3 Orang Ulu Lawyers join PKR Sarawak. Anwar Arrives..

anwar sarawak visit 250408 speech

State PKR Chairperson YB Dominique Ng has confirmed that the 3 are Paul Raja, a Kelabit from Bario, Harrison Ngau, a Kayan from Baram and Baru Bian, a Lun Bawang from Lawas. This will strengthened the composition of its multi-racial membership base and the trio are expected to be fielded in the three Orang Ulu majority State seats of Telang Usan, Ba’kelalan and Belaga respectively.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim the de facto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) arrived at 3.30pm this afternoon and headed directly to to close a one-day seminar which was an “Induction for the New Leaders” amongst them were 7 Lawyers, 3 Professors, 2 Phd Holders and 3 Accountants. Tonight he will be the guest of honour at a dinner at Lok Thian Restaurant Kuching which will be attended by PKR members, supporters and friends.

Tomorrow the 24th of May 2008 Anwar will head to Lubok Antu which is in Sri Aman to launch the party’s new Lubok Antu division. According to our sources a huge crowd of 2000 is expected where Nicholas Bawin Anggat (former MDC protem President) will be named to head the New Division. Last month he was in Kuching where he launched the Mambong division(picture).

With this addition of No.15 Lubok Antu Division PKR has expressed confidence given the mood swing in Sarawak that they will provide an alternative to the ruling BN coalition in the rural areas. The voters in Sarawak will have their voices heard in the Ballot boxes in the Sarawak State elections due in 2011. The sideshow has just begun…..Hmmm..Do you agree?

This is significant. Dayaks can now channel their aspirations through PKR! This is a good turn of events. With leaders like Dominique and Bawin, PKR should have a greater impact.

I like to hear them joining PKR.

Well, Sarawak should demand more and get out of the firm grip of Mahmud Taib who has turned it into his family ranch.

Those guys have tried again and again to become Yang Berhormat(s) but in the end they never make any inroads except for Harrison Ngau who instigated the Kayan to go against the government at the height of the booming of the timber industry. He managed to unseat Luhat Wan who was then the Deputy Minister. WHen Harrison Ngau won, the Kayan in Baram lost. There were no development funds from the Federal govermnment. Until now Baram became the backwaters of Sarawak and remained undeveloped. This area have been subjected to intense politicking whether during the State election or in the Parliamentary election. This factor too contributted alot as to why Baram remained undeveloped.

I have known Baru Bian the flamboyant lawyer. He has tried hard to win the Bakalalan seat, and he tried in almost all election. By joining the PKR bus, and tries to grab the streering wheel, I am sure the PKR bus will not bring them anywhere, but with brake failure, the buss will fall into the drain. PKR only good at destroying the political stability that we have achieved for the past 45 years.

The three orang Ulu Lawyers who have joined PKR will not make much impact. What about the 80,000 Orang Ulu Voters who have given their support to BN.

Well, let see how these guys fare in the 2011 election.

Let this gather momentum and inspire more Dayak professionals to join PKR in order that they can control their destiny. As a Chinese, I find it obscene that some of my fellow Chinese deem it fit to enrich themselves at the expense of rural people and rural development. I don't see them ploughing some of their wealth into the region they raped. Let this be the beginning of the end of the rape of Sarawak's forest although I fear it may be a bit late.

In reply to the last comment made, I challenge his/her use of the phrase "political stability" under BN. I think what he/she means is "political inactivity" which has led to cosmetic development. This "cosmetic development" has not benefited those who need it most but has only succeeded in aiding the favoured few get richer and richer by the minute.

no longer support pkr now

Nah, I think the so-called Orang Ulu champions are better off with much clearer conscience if they would take on BN on their own without having to wield the spirit of PKR.

It's Anwar Ibrahim they're supporting there for Christ's sake! Anwar is as racist as Ikan Biawan in Loagan Bunut. Biawan or Anwar was driven only by his political instinct and survival.

My opinion remain. I agree with Haji Julaihi Haji Suut here http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2008/03/malaysian-election-2008-part-v.html

What do we Dayak & OU got frm BN. BN is PBB. PBB is Taib bin Mahmud. A little bit of Jabu and G.Chan. Didn't you all realise that. Poor Dayak & OU. We have been marginalised and bullied. It is like Sarawak is owned by 1 or 2 person. Taib/PBB want to control almost everything, left very little for others specially Dayak party and communities to part-take. PKR will be a party to seek for justice and transparent government. We need to overturn BN in Sarawak. So development will shared by majority. Currently iti is only CMS, Shin Yang, Samling, KTS, Rimbunan Hijau, Hock Seng Lee. There is no Dayak based company. KESIAN. Time Taib to GO.GO..GO.GO. Geram aku!

Hi James anak Bond. What do you get from BN? Ada banyak kantau kah? This is probably what you see as development. OU area remain poor and undeveloped bcos of BN selfishness. Their strategy is to punish opposition thro' non allocation of budget to their constituency. The danger of such a game is that people on the ground will hit back very hard. Cases of last general election in West Malaysia. BN reps and leaders become very too complacent, busy doing their own business, isi pocket sendiri, not working as promised, not delivering their task and target. When it reaches ths stage, time to Bungkus. BN reps are only dreaming. Be careful.

I have known Baru Bian on two occasions where he represented my uncle and my close friend in court against the big chinese companies (you can guess who). Only Baru had been actively trying his best to represent the interest of OU or Dayak. You can look around in your own communities whether there are any other Dayaks and OUs beside him who dare to fight for the native or not. TIDAK ADA...potong jari aku ini kalau dapat cari. This is the person that I am looking up to. He had his good principle and that's what matters most.

BN Taib is very worried that PKR will ruin his majestic rule and dynasty in Sarawak. His empire include all those rich Melanau and Chinese few. Their hand will begin to shake the moment PKR is getting stronger in Sarawak. Why this happen? Bcos many hanky panky business processes had been their trademark. You rub my shoulder I rub yours relationships. Once investigate...semua masuk jail. You just wait and see.

I hate OU people who support Taib Mahmud. The good and bad of a political party stem from what made up the party. Bad leaders will will lead to bad political party. This is what I see in PBB now. Taib is too long too old fashion .. like Robert Mugabe. They think they are well-liked by many people. The truth is they become sinile by the day. Like John Mc Cain. Too old....people don't trust that he can handle any more pressures. Do you understand this fact. Taib is undergoing this process now. Tamak Tamak!

I salute Baru, Harrison and Paul for joining PKR. They have made their stand very clear, which is what they were all this while. No surprise. Keep up your good fighting spirits.

PBB bullied PRS and SPDP. Case Dublin Unting who is currently sick. PBB pun mau rampas his seat. Dia belum mati lagi, sudah awal awal PBB make noise mau cari pengganti.

No doubt that the Dayak and OU have been manipulated and taken for a ride for many decades under Taib. The NCR and NCL matters are still a major problems. Taib do not like Dayak and OU to own large land bcos he think this is not fair to other races. But we have law to refer to. We are the lord of the land since the beginning. So now people don't like that provision...and now keep trying to abolish it thro implementation of "development" or introduing SCORE etc.. where effectively land encroachment will take place everywhere. By doing this, it is going to be the end of the NCR/NCL.

The mind of Dayak and OU people today is very different than what and who they wre 5 or 10 years ago. Don't assumed that Baru Bian who failed in his bid to join the ADUN few years ago will recur again. They are lots of unpleasant things took place within the current Sarawak state leadership/government. Take a look at the mirror and se your face closely. You will see it is also different than it was 5 years ago. So learn from it.

It does not make any more sense anymore on all those promises and SCORE anymore with this financial crisis. Since day 1 I have been saying NO to it. The RM300 billion project is only a dream, but had been used to entice for supporters in the last elections.

You now swim with najib. What did Baram get when it returned to BN? Asked the Kayan leave the land they inherited from their forefathers. If they failed, we failed. You failed to do justice for your only son
